The residents of Briarcliff enjoy a relaxed quality of life next to Lake Travis. Briarcliff is governed by two entitites, the Village of Briarcliff (the city government overseeing Briarcliff and nearby subdivisions) and the Briarcliff Property Owners Association.
Briarcliff was established in the late 1960s and was incorporated as a city in 1984. There are more than 1,200 residents.
One of the most colorful aspects of this neighborhood is Willie Nelson’s Pedernales Cut-N-Putt, a nine-hole golf course that is open to the public (www.pedernalesgolfclub.com). It’s owned by Willie Nelson and is adjacent to his recording studio and condos. One of several humorous posted rules is “when another player is shooting, no player should talk, whistle, hum, clink coins or pass gas.” It was recently the site of the first Willie Nelson Celebrity Golf Tournament, which benefited four local charities.
